    We all know the Corkscrew Regatta is the last race of the year. But on November 12, 47 BIAC members raced in seven different events and earned four gold medals at Head of the Lagoon in Foster City. This popular regatta is the last head race of the season and is the closest to BIAC's home waters in Redwood City. See full results here. Go, BIAC!

    Congratulations to all the BIAC racers who braved the heat at Head of the Port in West Sacramento on Oct. 8. There were 16 BIAC entries across 12 categories. Five boats won their event: Novice M1x (John Lamb), Open W1x (Christin Carragee), Masters W1x (Aisha Chow), Mens 4x and Mixed 8+. An additional 9 boats won the age category within their event. In addition to winning her event, Aisha was the fastest women's 1x overall, earning her a place on the new perpetual trophy.     On Sunday, August 6, BIAC rowers competed at the North Tahoe Regatta. Juan Jimenez (M1x) and Angie Tinson & Laura Lind (W2x) raced flat-water boats on the short course (7k). On the long course (16k), Athena Bradley & Amanda Hawkins raced the women's coastal 2x and Jack Dahlgren & Marty Udisches (in above photo) raced the Maas open-water 2x.     On Saturday, July 15th, the Comp Team journeyed all the way to Lake Merced in San Francisco for our last sprint race of 2023. 24 athletes competed up to 3 times, and the team came away with wins in 10 events! This was a great event to cap the 1k season, and we are proud of how the team defended the island. The Comp Team will now start training for the upcoming head races this fall.

    Taking place on July 8th & 9th, Henley Masters Regatta is a 1K, dual lane sprint race up the Thames River from Temple Island on Henley Royal Regatta’s fabled waters. The single elimination brackets with random draws led to a tough heat and early defeat for BIAC members Renata Perry and Sharon Wienbar, who nevertheless enjoyed the charms of Henley-on-Thames’ Tudor pubs and international rowing community.

    Over the weekend of June 24-25, the Comp Team traveled all the way to Chula Vista to race at the Southwest Regional Championships. The team worked together to navigate a complicated regatta, with some people racing up to 5 times in one day! BIAC had an impressive showing, capturing 12 gold medals, 8 silver medals, and 6 bronze medals! Check out some photos from the event and click here to view all the race results.

    On Sunday, June 4th, BIAC athletes traveled to West Sacramento to race at River City Rebellion. Held a month earlier this year, RCR also changed up both the direction of racing and the first round of competition from previous years. BIAC represented with two Mx2x’s, two W1x's, a W2x, W2-, and M1x . The team collected some medals with the fastest times for the mixed 2x, women’s 2x and women’s 2-! Check out some photos here and view the results from this unique tournament event.

    On Saturday, May 20th, the Comp Team, Open Team and other BIAC racers traveled to Lake Natoma in Sacramento to compete at the Gold Rush Masters Regatta for a combined 26 entries. They were met with a typical hot summer day in Sacramento with great racing conditions. BIAC captured 8 gold medals, 5 silver medals, and 1 bronze medal! Check out photos from the event here and get full results at this link.

    On Sunday, April 16, BIAC racers took part in the challenging and beautiful Open Ocean Regatta held in the San Francisco Bay. Launching from Sausalito, BIAC had 5 entries on the shorter Strawberry Course and 4 entries on the roughly 16k Diablo Course which goes out under the Golden Gate Bridge and back. Several racers competed in this event for the first time and finished with good results and great memories – for some it was their first race ever!     For the first time ever, San Diego Crew Classic expanded the regatta to 3 days: Friday, Saturday and Sunday! Held from March 31st to April 2nd, San Diego welcomed hundreds of athletes and spectators to Mission Bay for the 50th annual Crew Classic. At the "2k on the Bay," BIAC had crews participating in the Women's Masters Club 4x and 8+, the Men's Masters Club 4x and 8+, and the Women's Masters B 8+. Our crews braved the signature Mission Bay winds and waves, threw down some fast 2k pieces, and came home with an amazing win in the brick and mortar Women's Club 8+! Full results here.
