Corporate Team Building in the Time of Social Distancing

Successful team-building events not only bring people closer together, they also contribute to a more successful and creative workplace. In this time of physical distancing, Bair Island Aquatic Center facilitates that bonding with an event that brings people together by encouraging communication, collaboration, and teamwork, while keeping at least six feet apart. After spending a few hours on the water together, we think your team will communicate and work better together remotely. Everyone will be in a personal watercraft, plying the beautiful, protected wetland waterways of Redwood City.

Come celebrate and build team spirit while enjoying the water and sunshine together, and apart.

To book your event or get more information, please contact Alice Henderson at ops@gobair.org.

Gist of the Day:

Participants will start out with an introduction to the craft they are assigned, a rowing single, SUP (stand up paddleboard), kayak, or surfski — all single-person crafts. Team members will then move to the water where they will spend the majority of the time. We will enjoy an outing to practice the new skills and then divide into groups for a friendly competition, all while maintaining physical distancing.

The day concludes with a closing ceremony and a team photo with paddles and oars. Enjoy the sun glinting off the water, watch a seal or a sea bird, and get to know your team in an entirely new and exciting way.

Costs:

  • Corporate Team-Building Event for up to 12 participants is $1,500
  • Additional participants are $50 each
  • Duration is three hours

Options:

  • Add a volunteer component! We have the supplies so your team can help clean the bay

Optimal Team Sizes:

  • We will try to accommodate your group. The ideal size is 8 to 30 participants. We cannot accommodate groups larger than 35 people.

Bonus:

  • Corporate event underwrites our adaptive, injured veterans and youth outreach programs.
Note: The craft available will change based on the conditions, but everyone will be in a personal craft. No one needs to go into the water, but that is a possibility. If you have someone who doesn't enjoy being on the water in a small watercraft, they may ride with the safety launch. We have a special role for that person, because we are building teams and there is an important role for everyone!
