Come out and Learn to Row
on Saturday, June 3rd, 10am-1pm

Bair Island Aquatic Center is proud to be part of National Learn to Row Day sponsored by USRowing and Concept 2. As part of this nationwide program, the BIAC boathouse will be open to anyone interested in learning how to row absolutely FREE OF CHARGE. Bring your friends! ¡Hablemos Español!

Online registrants will have priority over walk-ins so be sure to register today. Your confirmation email will include a short form to submit to let us know what time you plan to come by.

Competitive and recreational rowers range in age from 13 to over 90, so it is never too early or too late to learn to row! No experience necessary, all fitness levels welcome. Ages 13+. Note: Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

You will have an opportunity to learn boat handling, terminology, and fundamentals of  rowing. After you spend some time on a rowing machine to get a feel for steps involved, you'll get on the water in a team rowing boat with a coach and some experienced rowers.

What to bring:

  • Water in a reusable bottle
  • Sunscreen
  • Sunglasses and a hat
  • Wear comfortable fitness clothing, similar to what you would wear on walk, run or bike ride. Avoid large, baggy clothing.
  • Wear shoes with socks. If you wear flip flops or sandals, please bring socks. (You will remove your shoes before getting in the boats but need to wear socks in the boat.)
