Surfskis are a great way to paddle which is why their popularity is surging.  These boats let you enjoy our waters, from flat water to white caps. This class will teach you the basic stroke;  training will start on calm water. You will practice how to safely remount your surfski. On Sunday we will look for more challenging water.

Once you successfully complete the class you will have a free one-month membership to practice, after which you can join the club. We have just updated our fleet and have all new Epic V8 surfskis.

What to expect?

  • You will get wet! Bring a towel.
  • You should wear clothes that are comfortable and can get wet.
  • Please leave expensive belongings at home. There is a place to store keys.

Who can take the class

Everyone can participate. BIAC membership is not required to sign up for this class.  However, this class is for adults only - participants must be 18 years or older.

What's included

Your Learn to Surfski registration fee includes one-month of BIAC membership and the opportunity to take other BIAC classes. After this introduction to the sport, we hope you’ll decide to continue paddling and join BIAC.

What's covered

Surfski orientation covers: storage, how to use the equipment, launching and docking, safety, traffic pattern, and use priority.

What to bring

BIAC will provide paddles and craft.

Due to Covid-19, we ask that you bring your own personal flotation device (PFD) if you have one. We have some available, if needed.

We will be going on the water so come dressed for paddling, bring a towel, and PFD.

Where and when to meet

We will meet on the deck in the main yard.
