Learn to Outrigger Canoe (OC) at BIAC

Learn basic paddling technique in an outrigger canoe (OC) and experience the satisfaction of working with your crewmates as six paddles become one. This class is geared to those who have never tried an OC or want tips on how to be successful. We teach proper form, maneuvering and how to navigate the inner harbor/Bair Island.

What is an Outrigger Canoe?

Outrigger Canoe (Wa’a) Paddling is an ancient form of ocean travel that offers a fantastic, low-impact, total-body workout. The outrigger canoe features one or more lateral support floats known as outriggers, which are fastened to one or both sides of the main hull.

We are offering both Juniors (ages 10-17) and Adult (ages 18+) Learn to OC classes this summer. The cost of Learn to OC for adults is $125 for four 90-minute classes.
