Bair Island Aquatic Center is proud to be part of National Learn to Row Day sponsored by USRowing and Concept 2. As part of this nation-wide program, the BIAC boathouse will be open to anyone interested in learning how to row absolutely FREE OF CHARGE.

Competitive and recreational rowers range in age from 12 to over 90, so it is never too early or too late to learn to row! No experience necessary, all fitness levels welcome. Note: Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

You will have an opportunity to learn boat handling, terminology, and fundamentals of the rowing stroke. After you spend some time on an erg (rowing machine) to get a feel for the different parts of the stroke, you'll get on the water in an 8-person rowing shell. (We’ll throw in a few experienced rowers to keep you safe).

Be sure to bring a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, close-fitting clothes/shoes appropriate for an outdoor workout, a bottle of water, and our signed waiver and release form (download it here, print it out, read and sign it, and bring it with you).
