2019 San Francisco Coastal Rowing Series

October 5th and 6th, 2019

Presented by: Bair Island Aquatic Center, South End Rowing Club, Open Water Rowing Club, Dolphin Club, The National Park Service and the City of San Francisco


Two US Rowing registered races will be offered October 5-6, 2019:

  • Saturday, October 5th: SF Coastal Classic Regatta – 6km buoyed FISA-style coastal race.

  • Sunday, October 6th: Half Marathon Bridge-to-Bridge Regatta – An open water race from Aquatic Park to the iconic Golden Gate Bridge to San Francisco Bay Bridge and back.

Both regattas are open to open water, traditional and FISA coastal boat classes. All events are open to rowers aged 18 and over who are members of USRowing or Rowing Canada Aviron with signed USR or RCA waivers; we will require an additional waiver at registration check-in. Registration on Regatta Central is open through Oct. 1, 2019.

More Info:

  • The weekend’s events will be based in Aquatic Park, with overnight trailer parking available nearby.
  • San Francisco also hosts the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass music festival. Come make a weekend!
  • The SF Coastal Classic is a new race and great training for Coastal World Championships held this year from November 1-4, 2019 in Hong Kong. In the SF Coastal Classic you will row among the Bay’s most scenic landmarks: Alcatraz Island, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Presidio National Park and San Francisco’s historic waterfront.
  • ROW SAFE! The US Coast Guard requires all boats in SF Bay to carry a PFD (personal flotation device) and whistle for each rower/cox and at least one phone in a waterproof case and/or a marine radio. Race Commission Control will check for these items.
